About the books
Mountain Engineers Series
I am writing a series of historical novels about the Canadian Pacific Railway's Mountain Division. These are the men who, in the 1880s, built the line west of Calgary through the mountains to the Last Spike at Craigllechie, British Columbia.
They were Canadians, Americans and Europeans in the Mountain Division. Chinese workers were used only in the Pacific Division building the railway east from the future city of Vancouver.
Most of the civil engineers were Scottish and several published memoirs. I have tracked down copies of those old books and used them as valuable resources for many of the adventures.

What readers are saying
Fully enjoyed the read of "The Heartless Rockies".
From the first set explosion to the last breaking heart!
I will never be able to drive through the Rockies without thinking of how this book explains some of the hardships of building the Canadian Pacific Railway though such difficult mountain terrain. Gives humanitarian insights into the men that worked on and created this wonder. It is neat to also read from a railway enthusiast's engineering perspective.
Thanks for the enjoyable read.

Before, I knew a bit of the history of the railway. Now, I feel like I know the individual people who built it!
